I'm always for showing the feet of clay. It's like the bad driving it just makes him more Gibbs yes that is one of the things that the show never really looked at, that Gibbs really does have that depth of understanding of what makes people tick and he understands himself too, I think, and yet he makes the same mistake again and again(with the red-headed wives and girlfriends!)
But I have come to believe that maybe it's because he won't let himself off the hook, because maybe he sees it as a fitting punishment. Not for the killing, because honestly, I'm pretty sure he doesn't feel any guilt at all for that... And reading between the lines in the show I think it's a given that Gibbs has been on black ops missions where he was basically an assasin, but i think he will never forgive himself for not being there to protect his family, even though he had no choice. but this is fan fic and we can do stuff here they can't on the show!!!
